A quiet celebration of one of Australia’s most captivating native blossoms.

There is something almost magical about the way this silver princess catches the light. Against deep green foliage, its crimson stamens seem to glow from within, transforming an everyday branch into something extraordinary.

It was this quiet radiance that inspired Holding Light. By isolating the blossom against a rich indigo background, I wanted to remove every distraction, allowing its delicate form, luminous colour and intricate pollen to become the centre of attention.

Enlarged beyond life-size, the blossom invites you to pause and look more closely. Details that are so easily overlooked in nature become moments of quiet wonder—the soft curve of each filament, the gentle weight of the leaves, and the fleeting beauty of a flower that blooms for only a short time.

Painted in acrylic on canvas from my studio in the Swan Valley, Western Australia, Holding Light reflects my ongoing fascination with Australia’s native flora and my desire to help others notice the remarkable beauty that surrounds us every day.
